Pre & Post Care instructions for all PMU Brows & Lips

Pre-Care Instructions

  • Avoid anything which will thin your blood for 2 days prior (Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Alcohol, etc.) *Unless prescribed by a physician otherwise.*
  • If blood is thinner, a 3rd touch up may be needed at $75.
  • Come with area to be worked on with make up as preferred to let me see your type of style. Feel free to bring pictures to illustrate what ideas you have in mind.
  • Exfoliate eyebrows the day before your appointment to allow for the best results.
  • If you have had a cold sore you need a 30 count from your dentist of Zovirax or Acyclovir to take regular dosage 1 wk. before your appointment and 1 week following your appointment. The 30 count will leave you enough to repeat this for your touch up.
  • Schedule your permanent cosmetic appointment a week before you are due for a fill as the aftercare ointment will loosen some lashes.

Post-Care 7 Day Plan

Ointment: Vaseline or Aquaphor. (Other ointment may not have best results)

  • You’re Permanent Cosmetics is an open sore until healed, please ensure you are using a newly bought ointment and apply with washed hands or a clean Q-tip.
  • Apply ointment 4 to 5 times per day and at least once during the night. *DO NOT let the area dry out, as your body will try to create a scab, which will pull out the pigment from your skin.
  • Keep water off the treated area, as it will cause the color to fall off prematurely.
  • Tip- Head back in shower and use washcloth to wash face.
  • Feel free to wipe area with a damp warm washcloth ONLY the first night and the first morning to wipe away bodies natural lymph fluid. Re-apply a clean layer of ointment. If brows need to be washed during the first day or next morning of procedure, you may use a gentle antibacterial face wash. Ex. Cetaphil or Dial.
  • Keep ointment out of your actual eyes as you wash away trillions of bacteria with every blink so ointment will trap bacteria against your eye. If your eye gets pink or red, rinse with saline solutions and switch ointment to Neosporin for the remaining 7 days. *If redness persists please reach out to me.

  • Area may begin to itch day 5-7 this is normal healing response. Apply ointment firmly in one direction or tap the area with your finger to help alleviate annoyance.
  • Area should not flake off until day 6 or 7; if this occurs earlier then this indicates the area was not kept moist enough.
  • Once the top layer of your cosmetics begins to peel the color will look very light. This is similar to when a scab peels off your skin and the skin is light underneath and after a week or so it starts to return to original skin color. Your cosmetics will darken by day 14-30 so please be patient. You should have a good idea the degree of coverage and color by day 30.
  • Touch up’s cannot be done any earlier than 4- to 6 weeks after the original procedure. Every person’s skin will respond differently some only require 1 procedure but on average permanent cosmetics requires a 2nd “coat” to seal and even any color, which has healed out. Feel free to contact me at 509.581.2002 if you should have any questions or concerns.

Pre & Post Care Instructions SMP

Pre-Care Instructions

  • Wash your scalp with a non-abrasive, gentle shampoo the week prior to your procedure. If experiencing breakouts on our scalp we are not a medical establishment so we are not allowed to suggest what to use for any problems or disorders. Instead please see a doctor to resolve this issue prior to your procedure.
  •  After washing the scalp, moisturize the skin with some form of skin moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated. Doing so will allow the ink to be properly absorbed. Refrain from sun tanning to avoid burning and peeling of the skin.
  • Focus on relaxing and get a good nights rest before the procedure.
  • Eat a heart meal before your procedure.

Post Care Instructions: PMU Removal

Post-Care Instructions

It is critical to follow all aftercare instructions to prevent complications, scarring and to achieve optimum results. Please read carefully.

  • Keep area clean and open to the air. Do not cover with a Band-Aid or anything else, leave open to air. Air/oxygen provides good and faster healing. You should not be touching the area at all but if you find yourself needing to please make sure your hands are exceptionally clean.
  • Clean by blotting area with saline 3 to 4 times a day using a paper towel or gauze no ice.
  • Do not soak the treated area in water. You can shower as normal but keep the area out of the shower spray the best you can and do not let the area stay wet for more than a few minutes. It is best to keep it dry but if you do get it wet gently pat dry.
  • Do not disrupt the scabbing process (i.e. no picking, scratching, etc.) All scabbing needs to fall off naturally. If you force or pick a scab off you will disrupt the process and possibly cause scarring. It is critical to keep the scabs on as long as possible to achieve optimum results.
  • Throughout the day for a minimum of 4 weeks, or until next lightening session. Do Not start applying the Vitamin E oil Until all scabbing has naturally and completely fallen off. It is our goal to keep the area as dry as possible until all scabs have naturally fallen off.
  • LIPS- Please drink all liquids with a straw until all scabbing has naturally fallen off. Brush with Toms of Maine or Classic Crest (no whitening, no peroxide toothpastes). Cut food into small bites….no biting into a sandwich. Try to keep mouth expressions to a minimum.

Please Read Carefully

It is important to the process and integrity of the skin that 8 full weeks of healing take place before
another lightening session can be done. No exceptions.

Lightening and/or removing unwanted pigment is a long process and patience is required. This is true
whether you are choosing a lightening product service or laser. Please be patient and give the process a
fair chance to work. Expect visible and wanted results in 2 to 5 sessions. How many sessions needed will
depend on how saturated the pigment is, how deep it was implanted and how much needs to be
removed for the desired result. In many cases only a percentage of the pigment needs to be lightened/
removed and then we can continue the correction process by color correcting or color shifting. In those
cases where we have pigment misplaced or in an unwanted area, color correcting will not be an option
and removing as much of the pigment as possible will be our ultimate goal.

Results cannot be foreseen, predicted or guaranteed.

If you have any questions or concerns please call us. If at any time you have any green or yellow puss in
the area of the removal, or any concerns at all during the healing process please call us below.
